We were in no hurry to leave the next morning. We each got our turn at the computer.

Drinking coffee and blogging |

Drinking coffee and emailing. We each have our own coffee mug, next time we go on a big trip like this we each need to have our own computer. |

This part of the coast has some pretty big tidal swings. This was the view the afternoon before at low tide. |
|
The same view at high tide. You'd never know all those boulders were hidden under the waves. |
|
We finally got going. More views of the coastline. |

This lonely old farmhouse sits within view of the mountain and the coast |
We got to New Plymouth in the afternoon. We had some shopping to do, then went out to a campground on the beach and finally used the bogey boards we've picked up along the way. What a blast! A whole lot better than body surfing. The waves weren't huge, but big enough on the long black sand beach. At one point I looked back at Diana, she had caught a perfect wave and for a few seconds was actually inside the curl of the surf before it broke. We didn't get photos, hopefully next time.

After taking showers we sat and watched the sunset from the dune behind our tent |
