Friday, February 22 - Castle Hill

We woke up to a misty morning while camping by Lake Camp.
We had the whole place to ourselves

An old farmhouse on the moors

Captive bucks running along the ridgeline
Driving on the road to Arthur Pass we came across these amazing limestone
rock outcroppings called Castle Hill.  Totally unexpected.  Of course, we had
to stop and check them out.  Turns out this area was used in LOTR.
Kristy was jumping for joy when she found out she could go climbing
on them
There are thousands of rocks waiting to be scaled.
The limestone forms curious shapes

A few kilometers further up the road we walked to see Cave River, where
a stream bed actually has cut a channel through the rock for 650 meters.
This where the stream enters the cave.  You are allowed to follow the stream
up through the cave, and we decided to give it a try the next day...
... so we camped nearby and Kristy made us a nice dinner.
