Saturday, March 2 - Kayaking day 2

We left camp the next morning and headed into another stiff north wind.  The waves hadn't gotten too large yet though, so we worked our way north to our next campground.  We got there around lunch time, picnicked,  and read and napped in out tents to avoid the sandflies. We had decided it made more sense to explore the coastline later in the evening when the winds died down.
As usual, Kristy prepares another amazing meal for us, green curry chicken
on tortillas
Our second campground had a lot fewer people.  We ended up staying two
nights.
Kristy exhibiting perfect paddle technique.  After dinner when the winds
let up, we kayaked out to an island about a mile offshore to take a look
at the seals and birds.
Seals have been protected from hunting for quite a long time, so they're
unafraid of curious kayakers.  The adults spend most of their days lying
around waiting until dark to hunt ...
... but the pups are usually alert and exploring the rocks and water ...
... these two delinquents are having a go at this wary shag.
These shags (cormorants) perch higher up on the
rocks to stay away from the little brats.

At low tide the gulls can feast on the exposed shellfish
Check out those mussels!
At dusk we finish our circuit of the island and head back to camp
