We met Chris and Amy on the beach front at Palm Cove north of Cairns yesterday.
They've got an apartment right on the beach, and we have a campsite about the same distance apart as our two houses, also less than 100 meters from the beach. So yes, we are next door neighbors. The campground is full only the night before the eclipse, so we've got a great place to stay here , and the night before the big day we'll stay with C&A and get out on the pier by around 4:30 am. The sun rises at about 5:30, the eclipse we'll have already begun, totality is at 6:39am. We had a lot of clouds this morning, although at 6:40 Diana and I were at a little bakery buying croissants to have with our coffee and saw the sun peaking through. So hopefully,,,
We spent the day in the rain forest listening to frogs and birds, craning our necks at huge trees, palms, and vines, and dodging raindrops. Perfect. I'll try to post tomorrow and catch up before the big day. So, until then, ta ta.
