Kristy's plane was scheduled to arrive at 1:20 pm, so until it was time to pick her up we continued working on finding places to stay. Who would think it could be so hard?
We drove through confusing and busy Brisbane with little problem (I couldn't have done that three months ago when I was still unfamiliar with the LC and right hand drive) and found the airport. Just minutes later we met Kristy at the baggage claim area.
It had been over seven months since we'd seen her, although Skyping makes the separation much more tolerable, so it was great to be able to give her a big hug. We got her backpack off the carousel and walked out to the LC. In and out of the airport in 30 minutes!
We drove back to the apartment and moved her stuff up to her room.
Happy family portrait |
After a bit we walked to a Coles grocery store and a Dan Murphy's bottle shop (wine, beer, liquor), chattering the whole way there and back.
I made lamb and tomato stew, risotto and mushrooms in white wine, and broccoli for dinner. Wayne was at a work site in Townsville, but Lorraine joined us, and brought a dessert of fresh strawberry yogurt topped with raspberries. With candles and our view of the river over the balcony, we ate and talked until nearly 11.
Yay, yay, yay!!!-KDB
