Before leaving for our day's excursion we had cereal and toast in the hostel kitchen.

Breakfast at Central City Backpackers |
We bought an all day transport pass allowing us on all forms of Sydney municipal conveyance. We started out on a train to get out to Bondi Beach, where buff -bodied guys and bikini clad girls go to soak up the sun, surf, and look at each other.

First we took a train ... |

... then a bus ... |

... to get to Bondi Beach |
We went swimming in the cool and refreshing bay, body surfing and marveling at how quickly you can float out to sea if you're not paying attention. I was floating on my back enjoying the added buoyancy that salt water gives you when I realized I was no longer 20 yards off shore, but more like 60. I easily swam back, but I realized how someone could get in trouble in the rip tide.
We didn't stay in the water too long since Ryan and Kristy are still sporting their early winter tans and the high Australian sun was searching for pale skin to scorch. After rinsing off the salt water we walked the 6 km Bondi to Coogee shore walk, passing beaches, cliff tops, and cemeteries.

There were quite a few VW campers, but this was the nicest we saw |
|
We needed a little pick-me-up to keep us going. |
We rode back to the hostel where Kristy made some delicious Aloo Gobi with Jasmine rice and lentils for dinner. Then we took the train to the Circular Quay, or main ferry wharf, downtown to continue our explorations.

Luna Park in North Sydney just under the Harbor Bridge is a pretty freaky place |
Finally, we got back to our hostel around 10:30 pm, glad to see our beds after a long day.
