Saturday, February 2 The West Coast of South Island

We left the buggy campground and drove out to the west coast on the Tasman Sea.  Not much walking, which was a good thing after our prior day's climb, but lots of sightseeing.

I was glad to see derelict trucks along the road.  Love that rusty metal.
If they could only tell their stories.
Diana is attracted to a different form of roadside beauty
We discovered this funny little tunnel along the road
Sort of Hobbit-sized
Maybe this is where the cave trolls live
The shoreline along the northern west coast

Amid the cliffs plunging into the sea, a few desolate beaches
We stopped for the night at Punakaiki, a tiny coastal village with a really nice caravan park.

  1. I could spend days on that beach, exploring and looking a driftwood and stones...

    Wish I was there now!
