Monday, February 4 - Drive to the glaciers

The clouds reappeared during the night, and when we awoke it had rained and the tents were wet.  It was a driving day so we all crammed steamy and wet into the van and hit the road.
Lots of fog and clouds and rain
I think we'll wait our turn to cross this bridge
Because of all the rain the river leading from Fran Josef Glacier was a gray torrent
The ice cold water creates its own low fog bank.  I don't know how long
those trees can withstand the current.
One benefit of all the rain is the spectacular
waterfalls all over the place
We walked up to an overlook to see the glacier
The glacier appearing out of the mist
The girls are proud of their colorful raincoats
We debated our next step.  We'd already stayed at expensive campgrounds the previous two nights, and would have to stay at another that night to see the glacier the next day.  If the low clouds held on through the following day we wouldn't see much more than we had already seen, but if it cleared up, we expected to have a much better viewing experience.
Knowing we had wet tents and clothes we decided to spring for the caravan park, and hoped the skies would clear the next morning.
